Benefits of Cordless vs. Corded Tools

Whether a cordless or corded tool is used is based on how you use it and what job is being done. Personal preference plays a big part in your decisions, but if you are on the fence, here are a few things to consider when making your decision.

 

Cordless – PROs

1.    Portability and maneuverability

2.    The battery can hold a lot of power (and is long-lasting as long as properly maintained)

3.    Technology keeps getting better

4.    Cordless tools are made to be more lightweight, helping to reduce fatigue while working for longer periods

5.    Could allow more flexibility in tight spaces

6.    Often easier to store, as most units come with their own case that also allows room for accompanying batteries.

7.    Cordless tools often run more quietly than corded tools.

 

Cordless – CONs

1.    Battery life can be restrictive and also will decrease at the battery drains

2.    Battery must be charged and well-maintained to stay at maximum performance.

3.    Overall power may be less than needed for tough jobs.

4.    Attached battery adds extra weight and bulk that might

 

 

Corded Tools - PROs

1.    Corded tools are able to run for as long as needed, without the need for changing the batteries as power diminishes.

2.    Some tools you need may require much more power. For that reason, some tools are not made in cordless.

3.    They are always ready to go… no battery means no need to make sure you have a full charge… simply plug I and you are at fill power.

4.    Properly cared for corded tools can last a very long time!

 

Corded Tools - CONs

1.    corded tools need access to power, they may also be more restrictive as to where you use them – even if you have an extension cord.

2.    Cords might get in the way while in use and can be accidentally cut.

3.    Cords can also make tools more challenging to safely store so they do not get damaged.
